Uniforms, Equipment and Instruments

 

       All school property needs to be treated with the utmost pride and respect.  Students will be held responsible for any damage outside normal wear and tear.

 

       Uniforms need to be folded neatly and returned to the uniform bag when they are not being worn.  Uniforms are also to be worn properly at ALL TIMES.

 

       Instruments should be properly stowed in their cases when they are not being used.  DO NOT leave any instruments lying around unattended.

Infractions

 

Any minor infraction, which includes but is not limited to a violation of any rule,  will be dealt with through the following procedure:

 

1st Offense – Verbal Warning and Conference with Director.

 

2nd Offense – 1 Hour Detention and Parental Notification.

 

3rd Offense – Parent, Director and Administrator Conference.

 

Offenses will also affect the daily participation grade. All offenses will be logged with the directors and consulted on a regular basis!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Grading Policy

 

60% of the student’s total grade in band will be based on participation.  This includes attendance, practice assignments, behavior, bringing materials to class and overall demeanor during rehearsal.  Each student will receive weekly participation grades.

 

40% of the student’s total grade in band will be based on tests.  This includes all performances, memory assignments, playing tests and any other assignment presented by the directors.

 

Alternate assignments will be given for excused absences from performances.

 

 

 

 

 

Absences

 

       In order for an absence from any event to be excused through the band department, the following procedure must take place:

 

 

Any for seen absence from a performance and/or rehearsal must be submitted to the directors at least one month in advance so proper arrangements can be made.

Marching Band Calendar 2007

 

 

Aug. 6th             Band Camp!!!  5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  For Everyone!!  Drum Majors and Section Leaders report at 4:00 p.m.

 

Aug. 6th-23rd     Band Camp!!!  Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

 

Aug. 23rd          Band Camp!!! 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Performance for parents at 7:00 p.m.  followed by a parent meeting in the band hall.

 

Aug. 27th          First Day of School

 

Aug 31st            Football Game vs. Ralls (H).  Band Supper Night!

 

Sept. 7th           Football Game vs. Olton (A).

 

Sept. 14th         Football Game vs. Plains (A).

Sept. 29th         West Texas Auxiliary Competition (Drum Line, Colorguard and Drum Majors Only) TBA

Student Permission and Medical Release Forms

 

I give my permission for__________________________ to attend all band activities for the 2007-2008 school year.  I understand that my child must follow all discipline guidelines stated in the Sudan Student Handbook as well as the Band Handbook.  I understand that failure to do so may result in the removal of my child from the activity and his/her return home at my expense.  I also give Sudan ISD authorization to seek medical treatment for my child if necessary.
